The passing on December 5, 2013 of Nelson Mandela, the first black president of South Africa was received with a lot of emotions around the world. The photo book printing world has joined millions of people in celebrating his legacy. MILKBOOKS which produces on demand photo book have launched The Nelson Mandela Quotation Collection. This collection consists of cards and framed prints, illustrated with African drawing and accompanied by Nelson Mandela’s wisdom and thoughts taken from his personal archive.
Themes in this collection include courage, freedom, inspiration, love and peace. On one card it is written “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it” and another reads “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear”. Since freedom was central to his fight against apartheid, his thoughts on this is certainly highlighted on one of the cards "The purpose of freedom is to create it for others.”
MILKBOOKS notes on its website that “Every NELSON MANDELA QUOTATIONS product purchased supports disadvantaged South African learners with free Nelson Mandela school diaries to drive their educational journey and future”. The Nelson Mandela school diaries themselves are meant to help students plan their homework, draw a study table and set personal goals. After further investigation we discovered that this project is also supported by the Nelson Mandela Foundation. So it seems that this collection was built for a good cause after all.
COURAGE 1: Taken from MILKBOOKS website
Nelson Mandela has helped to abolish the apartheid regime in his country South Africa, in doing so he set some new standards of freedom for his people, for his continent Africa and even the world. It is said that, many world leadersincluding three American presidents Obama, G. W. Bush and Clinton will attend his funeral in South Africa. It is refreshing to see that the photo book world is also honoring his legacy.
